Most recently, I was Technology Reporter for Wealth Management Magazine; Editor of the Wabash Plain Dealer; News Editor of NUVO; Managing Editor of the Indiana Lawyer; and City Editor, Opinion Page Editor and Editorial Board Member of the Kokomo Tribune. I was also a reporter at WFHB, the Times-Mail, The Reporter-Times, Ukiah Daily Journal and Ukiah Valley Television.

Oh yeah, and I’m also the proprietor of the podcast, The Rob Burgess Show.

A quick programming note: Most of this episode features me playing my ukulele and singing, something I have never done on this podcast before. However, I did sing and play guitar near the end of Episode 258 featuring my friend, Mark Rohrer.

Here are the songs you'll hear me cover on this episode, which was recorded live on the afternoon of Sept. 10, 2025 at the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, California:

  • The Rolling Stones - “Dead Flowers”
  • Johnny Cash - “Ring of Fire”
  • Nancy Sinatra - “These Boots Were Made For Walkin'”
  • Chuck Berry - “You Never Can Tell”
  • Taylor Swift - “Shake It Off”
  • Jimmy Buffet - “Margaritaville”
  • Jimmie Rodgers - “In The Jailhouse Now”
  • Survivor - “Eye of the Tiger”
  • Old Crow Medicine Show - “Wagon Wheel”
  • The Beatles - “The Ballad of John and Yoko”

Ep. 281 - Jonathan Fowler [LXIV]

Hello and welcome to The Rob Burgess Show. I am, of course, your host, Rob Burgess.

On this our 281st episode, our returning guest is Jonathan Fowler.
Jonathan is the all-time most frequent guest of The Rob Burgess Show.
And on Episode 82 and Episode 216, Jonathan was a guest along with fellow regular guest Ash Burgess.
Jonathan graduated with a BA in history from Indiana University in 2006. He is an unabashed left-wing political junkie. He has lived and worked in South Korea for over a decade, trying to help the citizens of that great nation, hopefully, "talk pretty one day."

You first heard Jonathan Fowler on Episode 2Episode 10Episode 20Episode 21Episode 29Episode 30Episode 31Episode 32Episode 34Episode 35, Episode 43Episode 48Episode 51Episode 56Episode 64Episode 74Episode 83Episode 92Episode 102Episode 103Episode 104Episode 105Episode 106Episode 107Episode 108Episode 109Episode 111Episode 114Episode 115Episode 116Episode 119Episode 126Episode 127Episode 133Episode 137Episode 140Episode 146Episode 147Episode 149Episode 153Episode 156Episode 158Episode 160Episode 162Episode 164Episode 167Episode 168Episode 169Episode 172Episode 173Episode 174Episode 179Episode 180Episode 181Episode 185Episode 236Episode 247Episode 249Episode 251Episode 261Episode 264Episode 270 and Episode. 277.

A quick programming note: In this episode Jonathan and I reference Michael Wolff's 2018 book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.” We broke down large sections of that book in Episode 102, Episode 103, Episode 104, Episode 105 and Episode 107.
