Hello and welcome to The Rob Burgess Show. I am, of course, your host, Rob Burgess.
On this our 308th episode our guest is James G. Ellis.
James G. Ellis served as Dean of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California from 2007 to 2019, overseeing the education and well-being of approximately 5,700 undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to becoming dean, he served as USC's Vice Provost for Globalization and held a full-time tenured appointment as Professor of Marketing. Before entering academia, Ellis built a distinguished career in business. He served as President and CEO of Porsche Design’s American operations and owned, operated, or partnered in multiple companies spanning retail, manufacturing, and distribution. A graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of New Mexico, Ellis has received numerous honors for teaching, mentorship, and leadership, including USC’s Golden Apple Award, the Teaching Has No Boundaries Award, and recognition as one of USC's most influential professors. He remains active as a consultant, advisor, and board member, continuing to share insights from more than five decades in business and education. Ellis and his wife, Dr. Gail Ellis, reside in Southern California. Together they have five children and twelve grandchildren.
His new book, “A Journey of Insights: Lessons in Leadership and Legacy,” will be published Sept. 1 by Lyons Press.
