Hailed as “pioneer of computational choreography” by Dance Magazine, Julie Cruse is a writer, inventor, instructional designer, content strategist and former academic with an MFA and MA. Spanning two decades, her educational innovations have served four Ivy League, four public and two community colleges. Her distinctions include 30-plus grants and honors, a National Science Foundation fellowship and recognition as Outstanding Alumni in Innovation. A first-generation student and creator of VICKi™(patent-pending), the world’s first choreographic software, Cruse has turned her own story into a movement for transparency and survivor solidarity through AcademicAbuse.com.

Her new book, “The Burn List: A Memoir of Abuse from Home to Higher Education” was published in March.

Paige Towers is author of “The Sound of Undoing: A Memoir in Essays.” Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Guardian, McSweeney’s and Harvard Review. Originally from Iowa, Towers now lives along the Washington coast.

Her new book, “What They Stole: A Familicide Rooted in Intercountry Adoption” was published May 26 by Iowa University Press.

On this our 297th episode, our guest is Patricia Martin.

Patricia Martin is a cultural analyst, researcher and speaker. Her work has been featured in Harvard Business Review, Huffington Post, The New York Times, Slate and Psyche Magazine. Author of four books, she holds an MFA in nonfiction from Bennington College, with post-graduate certifications from Duke University in medical narrative and Jungian theory at the C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago where she teaches writing and hosts the psychology podcast, Jung in the World.

Her latest book, “Will The Future Like You?: Reflections on the Age of Hyper-reinvention,” was published in March.
